ABOUT

Investigative Journalist

I am a self-taught Independent Investigative Journalist, seeking to be inspired, to envision the unlikely, to work hard for things that are worth it, and to be surrounded by those who bring out the best in me. Growing up in a middle-class community, I saw the cycle of homelessness and poverty pass my front window every day. I saw people turn away from those in need with callousness and contempt for human suffering. I resolved then to dedicate my life to easing the hardships of those around me, because I believe that a good civilisation can only be as strong as its weakest members. That is the time when I also came across Human Rights Protection Foundation (HRPF) led by Dr. Ravindranath Shanbhag in Udupi. I then resolved myself to be a part of this movement which was driven by its core objectives and guiding principles which makes this movement very unique from the others.

In today's scenario with bureaucratic arrogance and corruption allowed the powerful to exercise their authority in the most arbitrary manner, illiteracy, fear and ignorance about the governmental machinery, rights, and duties of a responsible citizen, weakened the victims of social injustice. This is where I felt it is high time and very important and necessary to support and actively be part of an independent public interest journalistic movement, to learn the nuances to have a political, yet noncontroversial, self-sustaining, self-help movement. By doing this certainly one can bring in transparency and accountability in to the system.

My goal is to help people meet their greatest challenges in the darkest times. I am ready for any new challenges and to broaden my range of investigative journalistic work. I feel it is the duty of every citizen to support such a movement and be responsible to build like-minded groups to support this movement in the long run. I strongly feel it would be very effective to solve problems through journalism by creating public opinion against injustice and continue to create awareness and impact on the burning issues concerning the people around if the issues aren’t reaching a logical conclusion which is of more concern. I wish to strictly take charge of the journalist path where ever necessary and appropriate.

My idea is that we should never resort to pressure tactics such as Dharna, Fasting, Rallies, Morchas and such other strategies which expose the common man to life threatening situations and involve expenses etc., instead will follow a systematic correspondence in the ascending order of bureaucratic/political hierarchy.

In the days to come, I wish people reach out to investigative journalists in good faith and confidence especially in the hope of obtaining the right guidance and support in connection with their problems and concerns and be rest assured that they will not be exploited or misled. I am committed to uphold the principles and ethics of a journalist and further ensure and enforce appropriate self-help strategies through democratic, non-violent, legal routes only. I too strongly believe that educating the common man and empowering him/her to solve his/her own problem is the most effective method for long term results. I hold a Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.
I have completed the “Yoga Instructors Course” (YIC) from Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana from SVYASA Yoga University in June 2007. Photographer

I am a natural light photographer with a unique artistic style and a love for candid captures! Picking up a camera gives me an opportunity to capture a specific vision to share with others while I discovered that it is simply the most beautiful way to see the world. Ultimately, a well captured image represents a moment in time that is expressed infinitely, and that’s enough of a reason for me to hang a camera around my shoulders wherever I go. My goal is to show the beauty, grace, strength and enthusiasm of people, places, and perspectives, women, and children in its entirety. The acceptance and encouragement from people around me and from other professionals make me feel that I am on the right path. With my DSLR I like to explore the world travelling and enjoy driving. I have been a Certified Participant at Dept. of Youth Services & Sports, Govt. of Karnataka at their customised Photography, Videography and Photojournalism courses.

Author

I have a good flair for writing and have authored a book in Kannada about the life history of an academic teacher who was a spiritual guru, an enlightened soul, and my best friend. Kannada is my native language. I have a great liking for Kannada Literature and a very strong and an intimate desire to follow the right path and be recognized as a professional writer both in Kannada and in English. I am a naturally curious person and intent on getting to the depth of things. It takes a special kind of person to not only be inquisitive, but also have the ability to get information out of people who don’t want to give it up so easily. I am currently in the process of publishing my 2nd book and the first one in English on a very interesting and niche topic about what leads one to success, is it the job skills or the life skills.
